Muff Waders Women’s Original Overalls
Our Original Overalls were designed for women who refuse to compromise between style and function. We built these from 12oz cotton duck canvas — the same fabric trusted by dock workers and painters for decades — and tailored them to fit the female form without sacrificing pocket space or durability.

We chose 12oz cotton duck because it balances weight and breathability. Synthetic blends pill and hold odor; denim restricts movement. Duck canvas shrugs off paint, sawdust, and grease without trapping heat against your skin.

Sizing & fit for women
How we tailored the cut
We started with measurements from 200 working women across ten industries. The waist sits at your natural waistline — not dropped to the hips like men’s overalls. The bib is shaped to accommodate your chest without gaping at the armholes, and the hip panels have extra room through the thigh without adding bulk at the ankle.
Our standard inseam works for heights 5’4″ to 5’10”. Petite sizing shortens the rise and inseam by two inches for women under 5’4″. If you’re between sizes, we recommend sizing up — the adjustable straps give you four inches of length adjustment, and a slightly relaxed fit through the body allows layering underneath.

Pockets & utility features
The chest pocket measures 6×7 inches — sized for modern smartphones with cases. We added a pencil slot along the right edge and a small inner pocket for keys or earplugs. Both hip pockets are reinforced with rivets at the top corners and sit high enough that you can access them without unbuckling the straps.
The back pockets are deep enough for a folding wallet or small notebook. We included one utility pocket on the right thigh with a flap closure to keep small hardware secure. The hammer loop is positioned for right-handed users but can be removed if you prefer a cleaner line.

Common questions about the Original Overalls
Our women’s overalls are tailored specifically for female body proportions. The waist sits at your natural waistline instead of dropping to the hips, the bib is shaped to accommodate your chest without gaping at the armholes, and the hip and thigh have extra room without adding bulk at the ankle. The straps are positioned to stay on your shoulders without constant adjustment. Men’s overalls typically have a straight cut through the body with no accommodation for hips or chest, which leads to poor fit and constant repositioning.
We pre-wash every pair before shipping to eliminate initial shrinkage. You may see minimal shrinkage after the first home wash — typically less than one percent in length and width. Washing in cold water and tumble drying on low heat minimizes any further size change. The canvas will soften with repeated washing but maintains its dimensions.
The hidden kneepad pockets accept standard foam kneepads measuring up to 8 inches long and 6 inches wide. Most hardware store and home improvement kneepads fit this dimension. The pocket opening has a Velcro closure to keep pads secure during movement. If you use oversized gel or hard-shell kneepads, measure them first to confirm fit.
Petite sizing shortens both the rise and the inseam by two inches. This works best for women under five feet four inches tall. The leg opening, pocket placement, and body width remain the same across both options. If you’re right at five feet four inches or prefer a cropped leg length, try the petite size first — the adjustable straps give you flexibility in torso length.
Yes, many of our customers wear the Original Overalls in professional trades including carpentry, electrical work, HVAC installation, painting, and facility maintenance. The clean design and functional pockets meet job site requirements without looking overly casual. The canvas holds up to daily wear while maintaining a professional appearance throughout the workweek.
For wet paint, blot excess immediately and rinse with cold water before it sets. Use a stiff brush and dish soap to work out remaining color. Dried latex paint usually loosens after soaking the overalls in warm water for 30 minutes, then scrubbing with a brush. Oil-based paint requires a solvent like mineral spirits applied to the stain before washing. The canvas texture hides minor discoloration well, and most working stains add character over time.
We accept returns and exchanges within 60 days of purchase as long as the overalls are unworn and unwashed with original tags attached. If you’ve tried them on indoors and they don’t fit, we’ll exchange them for a different size at no charge. Once worn outdoors or washed, we cannot accept returns due to the nature of workwear. We recommend checking measurements against our size chart before ordering to minimize exchanges.
