Muff Waders Original Beer Cooler Overalls
We built Muff Waders to solve a simple problem: keeping your drinks cold and your hands free while you’re grilling, fishing, or hosting in the backyard. Our Original Beer Cooler Overalls feature two insulated chest pockets that hold standard 12 oz cans or bottles at the perfect temperature for hours.
The dual chest pockets on Muff Waders use 5mm neoprene foam to create an insulated microclimate around each beverage. We tested the insulation in 85°F ambient heat with cans pulled straight from a 38°F fridge — after three hours, the liquid temperature measured 42°F, well within the ideal serving range for most lagers and ales.
Fabric & Construction
We chose 210-denier ripstop polyester for the shell because it balances tear resistance with breathability. The ripstop grid stops small snags from spreading into larger rips, which matters when you’re brushing past grill carts or dock pilings. The fabric is treated with a durable water repellent finish that beads light rain and resists stains from barbecue sauce or fish slime.
All stress points — shoulder strap anchors, side buckle mounts, and pocket seams — are double-stitched and bar-tacked. We reinforce the lower hem with bias tape to prevent fraying when the overalls drag across concrete or boat decks. The garment is cut with a relaxed fit through the chest and torso, so you can layer it over a T-shirt or flannel without binding.

Measurement Guide
Muff Waders run true to standard US overall sizing. Measure your chest at the widest point and your waist at your natural waistline, then reference our size chart: S fits chest 34-36 inches, M fits 38-40, L fits 42-44, XL fits 46-48, 2XL fits 50-52, and 3XL fits 54-56. If you fall between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a more relaxed fit.
Strap Adjustment
The shoulder straps adjust along a 6-inch range using sliding tri-glide buckles. Loosen them for a lower ride that sits on your hips, or tighten them to bring the chest pockets higher and more centered. Under typical outdoor conditions (75-85°F), the insulated pockets maintain beverage temperature in the 40-45°F range for three to four hours. In cooler weather or shade, you can expect closer to five hours. The neoprene lining works best when the drink starts cold — pulling a can from a fridge or cooler gives you maximum insulation time.
Both. The chest pockets accommodate standard 12 oz cans and most 12 oz bottles, including longneck beer bottles and hard seltzer bottles. The pocket diameter is 2.75 inches, so slim cans and 8 oz energy drinks also fit. Larger formats like 16 oz tallboys or 750 ml wine bottles will not fit in the Original model.
Yes. Remove the neoprene insulation pads first, then machine wash the overalls on cold gentle cycle. Hang to dry or tumble on low heat. The insulation pads can be hand-washed separately in warm soapy water and air-dried. We include a mesh laundry bag with each order to make washing the pads easier.
The Original Beer Cooler Overalls are currently available in Navy Blue and Charcoal Gray. We release limited-edition colors seasonally — sign up for our email list to get notified when new colorways drop. The Signature Edition comes in additional colors including Olive Green and Desert Tan.
We recommend sizing up if your chest or waist measurement falls on the border between two sizes. The overalls are designed with a relaxed fit, so a slightly larger size will still sit securely with the adjustable straps. If you prefer a more tailored look, stick with your measured size and tighten the shoulder straps to raise the bib.
Absolutely. Most customers layer them over a T-shirt, tank top, or flannel. The cut is roomy enough to accommodate a base layer without restricting movement. The adjustable straps let you fine-tune the fit depending on how much you’re wearing underneath. They work equally well over bare skin on hot days.
We offer free returns and exchanges within 30 days of purchase. If the size doesn’t work, email our support team with your order number and we’ll send you a prepaid return label. Once we receive the returned overalls, we’ll ship your new size the same day. Overalls must be unwashed and free of stains or odors to qualify for exchange.
